On June 18, 2026, a Project Coordination Meeting for the Smart Technology Groundwater Mapping Works in the Federal Territory of Labuan was held at the Meeting Room of the Water Supply Department (JBA) Labuan. The meeting was chaired by YBrs. Ir. Ts. Gs. Dr. Safari bin Hj. Mat Desa, Deputy Director-General of NAHRIM. It was attended by three (3) NAHRIM representatives including the Chairman, two (2) JBA Labuan officers, two (2) representatives from Rich Well Engineering, and three (3) representatives from The Water Malaysia. The discussion focused on the current status of the project, fieldwork planning, coordination of the implementation schedule, logistical requirements, and the sharing of information related to groundwater resources and the existing water supply system in Labuan.
Following the meeting, a site visit was conducted to five (5) locations identified as having potential for groundwater resource development. Three (3) of these locations are new proposals by The Water Malaysia, namely two (2) locations in the Bukit Kuda Dam area and one (1) location in front of Labuan Matriculation College. The remaining two (2) locations involve existing wellfields in Pohon Batu and Jalan Tanjung Aru. This visit aimed to assess the site conditions, accessibility, and the suitability of the locations for the execution of geophysical surveys and well drilling.
