NAHRIM represented by ChM. Nor Salmi Abdullah (Water Quality Laboratory) and Ts. Noor Shahida Rosli (Coastal and Oceanography Research Centre) attended the Workshop on Marine Litter Pollution 2026: Standardization of Measurement and Monitoring Methods from 26 to 27 August 2026 at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC). Organized by the Environmental Management Division (BPAS) of NRES in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), the two-day workshop aimed to standardize measurement and monitoring methods to ensure marine litter data is more consistent, accurate, and comparable in support of national marine pollution management.
Also present to strengthen cross-agency and inter-institutional cooperation were Dr. Pubadi Govindasamy (Undersecretary of the Environmental Management Division, NRES), Prof. Dr. Wan Izatul Asma binti Wan Talaat (Head of Ocean Governance Center, INOS UMT), and YBrs. Tuan Azlan bin Jamil (Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan Hijau Malaysia). This initiative is expected to further enhance data quality management for the sustainability of the nation’s marine ecosystem.
