The National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM) hosted the Technical Working Committee: Education and Awareness Meeting under the Emerging Pollutants Working Committee No. 1/2026, held online on 28 August 2026. This meeting was chaired by Mr. Noor Hisham bin Abd Ghani, Director of NAHRIM Water Quality Laboratory. The meeting was held to plan, update and share progress on ongoing and upcoming activities related to education and awareness programmes on emerging pollutants, in line with the strategies outlined during the Emerging Pollutants Working Committee Workshop 2025.
The meeting was attended by representatives from various agencies and institutions, including NAHRIM, the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA), the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE), the Department of Information Malaysia (JAPEN), water regulatory bodies, and higher education institutions such as Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). The participation of diverse stakeholders reflects a shared commitment to strengthening education and public awareness strategies, while supporting the planning and implementation of initiatives addressing emerging pollutants in Malaysia.
