NAHRIM through the Coastal and Oceanography Research Centre (PKPO), continues to solidify its position as the premier agency for national physical oceanography data collection. The current observation focus is centered on the strategic waters of Kuala Sala, Kedah, involving continuous data collection over a seven-month period (October 2025 – April 2026).

The instruments deployed are critical components of the national long-term marine monitoring network. They are designed to record high-precision wave and current parameters to meet high-resolution data requirements for defense applications and to support Modern Navigation Standards, specifically the development of International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) S-100 / S-111 standards.

This strategic data not only supports sea-level rise studies, coastal engineering, and national hydrodynamic modelling but also serves as the core for the development of the Malaysia Marine Digital Twin. Furthermore, it drives the migration of navigational charts toward a more dynamic and responsive digital system, ensuring higher precision in navigational safety.

Entering its third consecutive year (2023–2026), this ongoing monitoring commitment reflects NAHRIM’s technical capability and dedication to providing authentic, up-to-date, and high-integrity data for the nation’s strategic interests, coastal communities, and the sustainability of the maritime economy.
