Representative from Coastal and Oceanography Research Centre (PKPO) attended the Inception Workshop for the Restoration Opportunity Assessment Methodology (ROAM) Workshop for Mangrove Forest Landscape Restoration in the North-Central Selangor Coast (NCSC), held at the Mercure Kuala Lumpur Glenmarie Hotel. The three-day workshop (21 to 23 April 2026) was organized by the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), in collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and with support from Chery International.
The primary objective of the workshop was to gather information, local knowledge, perspectives, and collaborative opportunities regarding mangrove landscape restoration in the NCSC. The 130-kilometer NCSC stretch comprises mangrove forests and mudflats, extending from the Klang Mangrove Islands in the south to Sabak Bernam in the north, where the Bernam River flows into the Strait of Malacca.
