Site reconnaissance and sampling activities were conducted from 8–10 June 2026 at Sungai Selangor and Sungai Bernam, and from 16–18 June 2026 at Sungai Melaka. The reconnaissance activities were carried out to identify the most suitable sampling locations that are representative of various pollution sources and aligned with the objectives of the study. The assessment considered several factors, including the physical characteristics of the rivers, accessibility to the sampling sites, site safety, hydrological conditions, and potential pollution sources from domestic, industrial, agricultural, and livestock activities, as well as the locations of water treatment plants and wastewater treatment facilities. Water quality sampling was subsequently carried out at the selected locations to support the investigation of emerging pollutants in the three river basins.
