In efforts to strengthen national water resources management strategies, the National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM) is collaborating with Dutch experts through the Dutch Disaster Risk Reduction and Surge Support Programme (DRRS).
This collaboration focuses on a feasibility study of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for river sediment management. The NBS approach ensures that river sediment management methods are safer, environmentally friendly, and sustainable.
The study forms part of a broader strategy to achieve more planned, systematic, and sustainable development, while simultaneously reducing the risk of flash floods.
