March 9, 2026 | NAHRIM representatives attended a strategic meeting with the Department of Nature Conservation and the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) at the Belatok Pinang Meeting Room, PERHILITAN Headquarters.
The meeting, chaired by Tuan Haji Ady Ermanty Haniff, Director of the Natural Recreation Division, aimed to discuss planning and resolving water supply issues in mountain recreation and ecotourism areas.
The main focus of the discussion was on popular hiking trails in three major ecotourism locations:
Gunung Tahan (Pahang National Park)
Gunung Gagau (Terengganu National Park)
Gunung Benom (Tengku Hassanal Wildlife Reserve)
To address the challenges of water supply at high altitudes, NAHRIM played an important role as a technical advisor for the proposed implementation of Rainwater Harvesting Systems (SPAH) and water treatment facilities at the ecotourism sites. The technical assessment for this sustainable system is planned to be implemented at selected strategic camping sites such as Kubang Camp, Gedung Camp, Pakchau Camp, and Permatang Angin.
This synergy between NAHRIM, PERHILITAN and JPS is a proactive step to ensure the sustainability of nature while guaranteeing clean and safe water supply facilities for climbers and field staff.
