A coordination meeting on the proposed development of the NAHRIM Environment Dredging System (NEDS) in the State of Pahang was held on 9 April 2026 at Pengurusan Air Pahang Berhad (PAIP).
The meeting was chaired by the Director of BKSA Pahang, Mr. Norhazly bin Nion, and was attended by senior BKSA officials as well as representatives from PAIP. The main briefing session was delivered by a representative of the National Hydraulic Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM), Dr. Mohd Aminur Rashid Mohd Amiruddin Arumugam.
The briefing focused on the implementation of a Nature-Based Solutions study using the NEDS system to mitigate flood risks and ensure water resource security in the state.
This innovative system, based on environmentally friendly and semi-automated dredging, is capable of improving water quality from Class III to Class II, while also processing sediment waste into four potential downstream products.
To support the implementation of the project, NAHRIM has proposed two potential sites, namely TSST Cameron Highlands (Hulu Jelai Dam) and the Water Intake in Pekan, Pahang.
