25 November 2025 | The Meeting on the Proposal for the Establishment of the Malaysian Flood Forensic Unit (FORBiM) was held on 25 November 2025 at the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Malaysia, Cyberjaya. This meeting serves as a follow-up to the initial discussion held on 25 September 2025 regarding NAHRIM’s proposal to establish FORBiM as a pilot initiative.

The establishment of FORBiM is proposed to strengthen the nation’s capability in analysing flood events in a scientific, holistic and evidence-based manner. The unit is envisioned to function as a national reference centre for flood investigations, including the identification of root causes, impact assessment, and supporting the development of policies and flood risk management interventions that are more effective.

This follow-up meeting was chaired by Ir. Haji Mohd. Azmin bin Hussin, Deputy Director-General (Business Sector), Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID). The NAHRIM delegation was led by YBhg. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Hj. Nasehir Khan E.M. Yahaya, Director-General of NAHRIM (Acting).

This strategic collaboration between DID and NAHRIM is expected to enhance the nation’s preparedness in understanding, investigating and addressing flood risks in a more comprehensive and impactful manner.
