Site visits to assess potential locations for the implementation of the Local Technology Biocomposter Pilot Programme was conducted at six (6) locations under the respective municipal councils as follows:
8 April 2026 – Laman Selera Bandar Warisan and Medan Selera Dataran Jalan Pahang, in Kuala Kubu Bharu
9 April 2026 – Medan Selera Section 16 and Medan Selera Section 13, Bandar Baru Bangi, Kajang, as well as Gerai MPKL at Sungai Jarom, Jenjarom
13 April 2026 – MPS Food Court, Taman Greenwood
The site visit and related discussions involved several government agencies and local authorities, namely the National Hydraulic Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM), the Department of Local Government (JKT), as well as the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council, Kajang Municipal Council, Kuala Langat Municipal Council, and Selayang Municipal Council.
This strategic collaborative visit aimed to assess the suitability of locations for the implementation of the Local Technology Biocomposter Pilot Programme, a green technology initiative expected to deliver positive impacts on local environmental sustainability. It also represents a proactive initial step in advancing the recycling of organic waste (food waste) into bio-organic soil enhancers, thereby reducing dependence on landfill sites and imported fertilisers.
It is hoped that this initiative will serve as a new benchmark towards the development of sustainable cities in Malaysia.
