The National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM) is currently actively conducting a national study focusing on Emerging Contaminants and microplastics.
This critical initiative concentrates on three major threats to raw water quality:
✅ Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs)
✅ Microplastics
✅ Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)
Through the Emerging Contaminants Working Committee (JKKBCB), the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) remains committed to strengthening source control measures and legal enforcement to ensure that the nation’s water resources remain safe and protected from anthropogenic impacts.
