The National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM) continues to strengthen its commitment to supporting the national Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) agenda through its involvement as a strategic partner of the National Science Challenge (NSC) 2026, organised by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM). Themed “Strengthening the Foundations of Science for a Resilient and Inclusive Future”, NSC 2026 recorded the highest participation in the history of the programme, involving 56,013 students from 1,166 schools nationwide. NAHRIM’s commitment was further demonstrated through the development of a scientific challenge by NAHRIM’s team of experts, highlighting the importance of science and innovation in addressing water sustainability issues and shaping a resilient and inclusive future.
NAHRIM’s participation in the NSC 2026 Semi-Final Closing Ceremony on 5 September 2026 and the Presentation Ceremony of the YAB Prime Minister’s Challenge Trophy for the NSC 2026 Final on 7 September 2026, held at the NIH Ballroom, Setia Alam, reflects NAHRIM’s continued support for the efforts of ASM and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) in advancing STEM education. This involvement not only provides a platform to inspire and engage the younger generation in science and research but also highlights NAHRIM’s role in fostering scientific thinking, creativity and innovation as the foundation for developing a knowledgeable, competitive and future-ready generation capable of contributing to Malaysia’s aspiration of becoming a high-technology nation.
