NAHRIM, through the Coastal and Oceanography Research Centre (PKPO), is committed to further strengthening its position as the premier agency for recording the nation’s physical oceanography data. This strategic maritime location is centered within the narrowest and most critical sector of the Straits of Malacca near Pulau Pisang, Pontian, Johor which is one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world.
Entering its third consecutive year (2023–2026), this continuous monitoring commitment reflects NAHRIM’s dedication to ensuring that wave and current data are recorded with consistency, accuracy, and high integrity. These efforts are vital to supporting navigational safety, the development of national hydrodynamic models, and maritime governance driven by authentic, up-to-date data for the nation’s strategic interests.
