The Coastal and Oceanography Research Centre (PKPO) of NAHRIM, in collaboration with the Institute of Oceanography and Environment (INOS), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), organised the Program Outreach Kenaikan Aras Laut dan Dinamik Geomorfologi Pantai Malaysia: Daripada Penyelidikan ke Tindakan Adaptasi on 20 November 2025 at the Galeri Penyelidikan INOS. The program was officiated by Yang Berusaha Prof. Dr. Zainudin Bachok, Director of INOS.
This program served as a platform to strengthen understanding in addressing the challenges of climate change, particularly the impacts of sea-level rise and coastal morphological changes. It also acted as a medium to foster closer collaboration among strategic partners comprising experts and researchers from various technical agencies, policymakers, and local communities. A total of 80 participants attended the programme, including representatives from various departments/agencies, lecturers, researchers, and university students. Eight presentation topics were delivered by officers from JPS, PLANMalaysia, and UMT.
The program concluded with a closing speech by Yang Berusaha Ts. Saiful Bahri Hamzah, Director of PKPO NAHRIM. It is hoped that such discourse will strengthen the capacity of all parties in formulating adaptation strategies that are more proactive, holistic, and suited to the challenges faced by Malaysia’s coastal areas.
