An initial meeting and technical visit were held at NAHRIM to explore the feasibility of implementing NAHRIM’s Oil and Grease Trap technology (NoFAT). This strategic session was attended by Tn. Ir. Hj. Mohd Taufik Salleh, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Indah Water Konsortium (IWK), alongside the Head of the Desludging Department and the Head of the Operations & Maintenance Department of IWK.

Chaired by YBrs. Ir. Ts. Gs. Dr. Safari Hj. Mat Desa, Deputy Director General of NAHRIM, the discussion focused on the capabilities of the NoFAT innovation. This eco-friendly technology is specifically designed to separate oil, grease, fats (FOG), and food waste from wastewater in restaurants, canteens, food premises, and domestic kitchen sinks. Beyond improving waste management at the source, this innovation facilitates the collection of waste for recycling purposes, aligning with circular economy principles.

Through this strategic collaboration, both parties hope to see the wide-scale integration of NoFAT technology within the national waste management system to mitigate sewerage pipe blockages often caused by grease accumulation. This initiative is envisioned to be a catalyst for more sustainable wastewater management practices, ultimately contributing to the preservation of the nation’s water resource quality for future generations.
