A follow-up discussion session was held between Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and the Water Quality and Environmental Research Centre, National Water Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM) following the Final Presentation Workshop on the Guidelines for the Installation of Floating Solar Panels on Reservoirs and Lakes in Malaysia.
The discussion focused on efforts to strengthen and refine the content of the guidelines through the sharing of views, technical input and industry experience from TNB, particularly in relation to development planning, technical requirements, safety, operation and maintenance, grid connection, as well as considerations for the protection of water resources and lake ecosystems.
This session also served as an important platform to review the suitability of the recommendations and proposals presented during the final workshop, to ensure that the guidelines developed are more comprehensive, practical and applicable by stakeholders in the implementation of floating solar projects in Malaysia.
In conclusion, this follow-up discussion session reflects the shared commitment between NAHRIM and TNB in supporting the development of renewable energy in a planned, safe and sustainable manner. It is hoped that the input and feedback received will further strengthen the guidelines, while ensuring that the development of floating solar panels is implemented in a balanced manner, taking into account the sustainability of water resources, infrastructure safety and the preservation of lake ecosystems.
