The Coastal and Oceanography Research Centre (PKPO), NAHRIM received a courtesy and official visit from Mr. Md. Ashraf Ali Khan, Director of Human Resource Development at the Institute of Water Modelling (IWM) Bangladesh, on 25 September 2026.
This visit aimed to identify strategic collaboration opportunities between IWM and NAHRIM, while discussing capacity-building initiatives, particularly in coastal modelling, which stands as one of IWM’s core technical specialties. The discussion commenced with an introductory session chaired by Dr. Suriyani Awang, Director of PKPO. This was followed by a briefing on NAHRIM’s corporate background, presented by Mr. Muhammad Azroie Mohamed Yusoff, Director of the Corporate Planning Division. Subsequently, Mr. Md. Ashraf Ali Khan presented an overview of IWM’s background and role, highlighting their past research partnerships with NAHRIM researchers.
The session continued with discussions to identify new potential avenues of collaboration between both institutions. The program concluded with a guided tour of NAHRIM’s Rainwater Harvesting System Incubator (i-SPAH) and the Hydraulics and Instrumentation Laboratory (MHI), providing the IWM delegation with a firsthand look at NAHRIM’s technical capabilities and research facilities.
NAHRIM hopes to further strengthen and expand its established partnership with IWM through joint research programs, ongoing knowledge exchange, and continuous capacity development in coastal and oceanographic fields. This collaboration is envisioned to yield high-impact research outcomes while reinforcing global networks in hydraulics and water resources expertise.
