WORK PLAN 2008
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES FOR 2008
a) Launching and promotion of Hub objectives and activities.
b) Embarking on a climate change
vulnerability assessment project for the region.
HUB ACTIVITIES IN 2008
a) Training of Trainers Course 'IWRM as Tool for Adaptation to Climate Change' - 3 to 7 November 2008.
b) Regional Workshop on
Developing Partnerships for Water and Climate Change Adaptation
(WKHCCA SEA) - 1 to 5 December 2008.
EXPECTED IMPACT OF WKHCCA SEA ACTIVITIES
a) Sensitising 100 participants to global, regional and local water related climate change impacts, vulnerability assessment techniques and how to cope with climate change.
b) Training of 38 participants on methods and tools for assessment of climate change impacts and formulating adaptation measures.
c) When completed in 2011, the proposed
study would provide future regional hydroclimate projections
database up to the year 2100 which would be accessible through
the internet for various users (for vulnerability assessment and
adaptation of various sectors such as agriculture, biodiversity,
forestry, water resources, coastal and marine resources, public
health and energy).
COLLABORATION WITH OTHER REGIONAL WATER KNOWLEDGE HUBS
I
nitial collaboration is with other water knowledge hubs and like minded organisations such as Ministry of Public Works (MPW) and Ministry of Environment Indonesia, PUB Singapore, K Water South Korea, Network of Asian River Basin Organizations (NARBO) and CSIRO Australia to firm up the GCM simulations to be acquired, river basins selection and development of landuse/landcover/soils/topography GIS database. Consequently, as the study progresses collaboration with hubs such as ICHARM, Tsukuba, Japan (on water hazard and risk management), International Research Center for Erosion and Sedimentation, China and others would be carried out.
