Vision, mission and objectives
Vision
To
develop well informed personnel in the relevant
agencies within the region, to enable the region to
braise itself against the impact of climate changes.
Mission
This hub will develop
an international network to support its intended
Vision through programs such as :
-
Development of a detailed assessment of the water balances and water quality conditions at Southeast Asia Region under the global climate and future urban-industrial-agricultural water demand and land use scenarios,
-
The development of the appropriate water management policies over the region in order to mitigate the potential impacts of global climate change and regional land use change on the water resources of the region within the framework of future water demand and land use scenarios,
-
The identification of Capacity Building Need Assessment (CBNA) in the related areas and
-
The development of a relevant training program for the region.
Goal
The goals of this hub are as
follows:-
-
To developed a detailed assessment of the impact of global climate change and regional land use change during the next 100 years on water balances and water quality conditions of Southeast Asia Region under various urban-industrial-agricultural water demand and land use scenarios at fine space (grid resolution ~3km) and time (hourly/daily/monthly) resolution;
-
To develop an effective and relevant training program for the region.
-
To train the technical personnel of the Southeast Asia Region on the relevant technologies and management to combat the impact of climate change in the region.
-
To help develop water management policies (in terms f new operation policies for the water resources systems in the region) in order to mitigate the impact of global climate change and regional land use change on the water resources and water quality of the region;
The intermediate-term goals of this hub may be stated as follows:-
-
To perform a study on the Impact of Climate Change and Regional Land Use Change on the Water Resources of Southeast Asia Region with respect to water balances and water quality conditions over the whole region with a physically-based numerical modeling approach under all available emission scenarios, and what will stimulate the resulting water balances and water quality conditions under various urban-industrial agricultural water demand and land use at fine space (grid resolution ~12km) and time (hourly/daily/monthly) resolution and subsequently for a possible downscaled over the subregions of Souhtheast Asia at country scaled at much finer grid resolution (~3km).
-
To develop, organize and implement training programme for the relevant personnel of the countries in Southeast Asia.
