Introduction
      ‘NSoft’ is an acronym of ‘Nahrim Software’ which was developed specializes for hydraulic and hydrological design purpose. There’re four projects that can be executed in this software which are ‘Drainage Design’, ‘Bridge Design’, Rainfall Estimator’ and ‘Flow Calculation’. ‘Drainage Design’ and ‘Bridge Design’ are include in ‘Hydraulic Structure Design’, whereas ‘Rainfall Estimator’ and ‘Flow Calculation’ are in ‘Hydrological Analysis’ project works. But for the Trial Version, only ‘Drainage Design’ is admit for the application.
 
Main Functions
  • Drainage Design
              This is a part of software purposely for designing the size of drainage open channel due to the design water flow. From this software, we can determine the depth or the width of open channel which is important in the drainage construction. There are three shape options that user can choose to design the channel which are rectangular, trapezoidal or composite shape. The calculation formulas are based from MASMA (Manual Saliran Mesra Alam Malaysia).
  • Bridge Design (available in full version only)
          The ‘Bridge Design’ project is particularly to determine the value of afflux, which is the distance between normal water surface and the bridge freeboard. This is the fundamental criteria in bridge design concept, as the procedure of flood management. It can determine the value of afflux due to the design water flow. This software is very easy to use, and it is useful to help the engineer in bridge design work become easier than ever. The calculation steps, graphs, formulas and guidelines are based from REAM (The Road Engineering Association of Malaysia).
  • Rainfall Estimator (available in full version only)
            This part of software is very useful for most hydrologists where it will help them to produce the new IDF (Intensity-Duration-Frequency) coefficients for a certain places. By just a few clicks, the program will automatically calculate the values from the rainfall data. The calculation formula and the IDF coefficients for major cities and towns in Malaysia are referred from MASMA (Manual Saliran Mesra Alam Malaysia).
  • Flow Calculation (available in full version only)
           By this software, we can easily determine the discharge value of rainfall runoff. Basically, the program is using the Rational Method formula to estimate the peak discharge. But there is limitation of this formula whereby it is satisfactory to calculate discharge on small catchments of up to 80 hectares only. By default, this software has automatically stored the IDF coefficient values for major cities and towns in Malaysia into the computer. Thus, user can easily select the location to get the IDF coefficient then calculate the rainfall runoff discharge. The other function of this software is it can edit, add and remove the stored internal IDF database from the computer. It also can save the database into other external file. The calculation formula and the IDF coefficients for major cities and towns in Malaysia are referred from MASMA (Manual Saliran Mesra Alam Malaysia).
