on . Posted in Archives of Activities 2014

23rd February 2014 – Y.Bhg. Datuk Ir. Hj. Ahmad Jamalluddin bin Shaaban, Director General of NAHRIM, accompanied by the Director of River Basin Research Centre, Director of Coastal Management and Oceanography Research Centre as well as officials from the Corporate Planning Division, visited Penang National Park in Teluk Bahang.

The objectives of the visit were to observe more closely the conditions nearby Kerachut Beach and preliminary observations on the movement patterns of waves and currents around the adjacent coast which is alleged to be dangerous for water activities. The assessment takes into account various aspects such as the ocean tides, wind direction, current movement and also other factors such as waves generated by the movement of large vessel. Results of the assessment are expected to contribute to guidelines for reducing the risk of dangerous water activities to visitors. Among other area that was also visited is Meromictic Lake, which has two distinct layers of water temperature and density. Accompanying the visit was Mr. Mohd. Fuad Dahlan, Assistant Wildlife Officer of Penang National Park.
