Big Data: NAHRIM Received an Appreciation from MAMPU for a Collaborative Analysis of NAHRIM’s 10 Billion Hydroclimate Data Projection. 30 March 2016

  In 2015, NAHRIM has been granted to participate in Big Data Analytics - Open Innovation Network (BDA-DGOIN) project organised by Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) in collaboration with Multimedia Development Corporation(MDeC) and Malaysian Institute of Microelectronic Systems (MIMOS). Through this project, NAHRIM has developed Projected Hydroclimate Data Analysis & Visualisation for Potential Drought & Flood Events in Peninsular Malaysia system under the supervision of the Information Management Division and Water Resources & Climate Change Research Centre of NAHRIM.

  The objective of this system is to visualise the 10 billion hydroclimate data projected for 90 years (2010-2100) in Peninsular Malaysia to help stakeholders in making decisions on issues of natural disasters related to water and the environment.

  On March 30, 2016, at Multipurpose Hall, Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, Putrajaya an award ceremony was held where Hon. Datuk Ir. Jamalluddin Haji Ahmad Shaaban, Director General of NAHRIM has received a certificate of appreciation from Y.B. Datuk Joseph Entulu Anak Belaun, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department of the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU), on NAHRIM’s cooperation in the implementation of the project.

  To further expand the implementation of Big Data technology, in 2016, Information Management Division and Water Resources & Climate Change Research Centre of NAHRIM will improve the system by providing 3 additional modules which are; Climate Change Factor, Water Stress Index and Water Stress Index Simulation to support decision-making by stakeholders on issues related to water and environment.
