History of Establishment   

  The need to establish a National Hydraulic Research Institute of Malaysia (NAHRIM) is the consequent of the findings from Delft Hydraulics & Co in 1990. The report proposed the establishment of a research institute with a capability to conduct physical simulation and numerical hydrodynamic analysis, ecological and morphological processes and its interaction with human activities. Subsequently, the Cabinet Meeting on 14th April 1993, approved the establishment of NAHRIM with the following main objectives:

   i. To build a team of experts and provide the necessary research services in planning, designing, building and implementing research on development of water resources in particular and environment in general; and; and  

    ii. To set up a National Research Focal Point on hydro- environment.
