Assalamualaikum wbt and best wishes to all.
NAHRIM has been established in 1995 with the responsibility to become the national focal centre coordinating R&D activities in the field of hydraulic and its environment. In this regard, NAHRIM is actively carrying out the water related research and consultancy works including rivers, coastal, water quality and the environment, climate change adaptation and water resources, and hydrogeology.
NAHRIM constantly improves its expertise in R&D to implement a specific and niche research that is on par with international standards. The need to perform complex research has to be done to meet the challenges of the water environment and its interaction with socioeconomic activities.
Many NAHRIM research findings of which have been translated into innovative products. One of the product is Smart Drainage Trap (SMADRAT) which can filter garbage, sediment, oil and grease from entering directly into the river through drainage channels.
NAHRIM capabilities in research and product innovation strengthened with the establishment of the Hydraulic and Instrumentation Laboratory and Water Quality Laboratory. The Hydraulic and Instrumentation Laboratory of NAHRIM is the largest in Malaysia and are heading towards MS ISO9001:2008 certification specialising in conducting physical modelling. The lab has been equipped with four major facilities including coastal and estuary basin, ports and harbour basin and capable to generate waves, tidal river model and flumes. A total of more than 20 projects have been implemented in the physical modelling here and hopefully will continue eventually to be the customers' choice in the future.
The Water Quality Laboratory of NAHRIM is the latest technical facility which was launched on March 29, 2012 and heading towards ISO/IEC17025 certification in the field of water quality research and water treatment technologies. The lab is fully equipped with the latest technology for in-situ and ex-situ measurement. Both labs are always ready to offer services to all.
